Training on Goat Farming

A five days paid training programme was conducted on “Scientific management of Goats” by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR –CCARI, Old Goa during 14th to 18th October, 2019. Dr. Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao SMS (Animal Science) coordinated the programme and gave lectures on importance, advantages, scope of goat farming and various breeds suitable for Goa. Dr. Chetankumar H.B. Scientist spoke on scientific housing and health care management of goats. Dr. Susitha Rajkumar, Scientist, gave lectures on importance of vaccination and deworming in goats. Dr.Gokuldas P.P., Scientist, practically demonstrated ultrasonography in goats. Dr. Nibedita Nayak, Scientist, briefed on scientific feeding of goats. Dr. Solomon Rajkumar, Scientist gave lectures on value addition of goat meat and milk for profitable goat farming. Dr.E.B.Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa spoke on breeding management of goats and practically demonstrated artificial insemination in Konkan Kanyal female goat and assured participants to give all type of goat farming technical help in the future. Mr. H.R.C Prabhu, Programme Coordinator advised farmers to keep Konkan Kanyal goats in existing agricultural and horticulture farming system to make profitable integrated farming system . Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao gave practical exposure to the participants on castration of male kids, determination of age, identification of animals, Deworming, preparation of concentrate feed, cultivation of green fodder and how to use of various veterinary medicines etc. Total of 6 participants from different parts of Goa attended the training.
