Awareness programme on Kitchen garden, Bio waste management and Distribution of Soil Health Cards at Nagargaon,Sattari

Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized one day sensitization programme on “Kitchen garden & Bio Waste Management” under ICAR newly launched programme on Nutri Sensitive Agricultural Research and Innovations with specific objective on Nutritional Security at Nagargaon village in Sattari Taluka on 30/10/18. On this occasion lecture was delivered on vermicomposting and soil health by Mr. Shashi Vishwakarma, Technical officer (Soil Science), Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar, SMS (Home Science) organized cooking competition to get insight knowledge of nutrition , cooking skills and innovations of farm women in the village. The competition was organized on the title “Nutritious recipes of Ragi” n which 40 farm women participated. She also motivated ladies for skill development among women and youth and explained about fortification of locally available foods to make it more nutritious. In the inaugural session Mr. H R C. Prabhu, Programme Coordinator, KVK welcomed the gathering and stressed on role of women in agriculture. Dr. E B Chakurkar, Director, ICAR – CCARI, Old Goa appreciated farm women for their efforts and skills displayed in the different products for the competition. He also asked the participants to go for the refinement of the product and good packaging so that products can be marketed commercially. The soil health cards were also distributed to the farmers. Dr. A R Desai, Principal Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR – CCARI, Old Goa, stressed on importance of kitchen garden and urged to participants to develop the village as Nutri Smart village and vegetable seeds kits were given to the beneficiaries he was also judge for the cooking competition Mrs. Laxmi Harwalkar, Sarpanch of the village urged to participants to take active part in agriculture and allied activities of KVK for the development of the village. Vermibag and Dust bin was also given as a part of Swachhta Mission Programme of KVK. The programme was attended by 75 farmers and farm women. Mr. Shashi Vishwakarma, proposed vote of thanks and Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar, compered the programme.
