Ten Days Training on Scientific Dairy Farming

Scientific Dairy Farming- First day (19/02/18) Training Programme on Scientific Dairy Farming was inaugurated by Dr.E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR CCARI, Goa on 19th February 2018 at training hall, ICAR - KVK. Mr. H.R.C. Prabhu , Programme Coordinator I/C gave welcome speech and advised to do vermicomposting along with dairy. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar gave lecture on scope of dairy farming in Goa. In the afternoon session , Dr. Udharwar Sanjaykumar SMS (Animal Science ) gave lectures on “Various breeds suitable for climatic condition of Goa” and “ Anatomy and physiology of Cattle”. Total of 15 farmers from various parts of Goa were present on first day of the Training. Scientific Dairy Farming- Second day (20/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. Chetankumar H.B. Scientist (Animal Science ) gave lectures on Scientific Housing , management and importance of record keeping in Dairy .In the afternoon session Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar conducted practical and explained importance of milking machine, automatic watering system, Determination of age , recording of temperature , ruminal motility, identification of diseased and healthy animal and measurement of various dairy sheds dimensions. Scientific Dairy Farming- Third day (21/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. R.B. Dhuri, Manager (Goa Dairy ) gave lectures on Scientific Feeding of dairy cattle .In the afternoon session Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar conducted practical and explained feed block technology and bypass fat preparation . Scientific Dairy Farming- Fourth day (22/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. P.S. Khade, Veterinary Officer (Goa Dairy ) gave lectures on Scientific management of calf , pregnant and lactating cows. Dr. Gokuldas P.P. Scientist (Animal Science) gave lecture on reproductive management of dairy cattle and AI container use and importance of Artificial Insemination. In the afternoon session Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar conducted practical and explained hydroponic fodder production technology and azolla preparation . Scientific Dairy Farming- Fifth day (23/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. Chetankumar .H.B. Scientist (Animal Science ) gave lectures on bacterial ,viral and fungal diseases of dairy animals .Dr. Sanjaykumar Vithalrao Udharwar ,SMS (Animal Science ) gave lecture on surgical affections of dairy animals . In the afternoon session Dr. Shivasharanappa N. Scientist (Animal Science ) gave lectures on A1 and A2 milk and how to collect samples at field level . Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar conducted practical and explained concentrate feed preparation ,Importance of mineral mixture / salt lick in dairy animals . Scientific Dairy Farming- Sixth day ( 24/02/ 2018) Exposure visit was organised at Dairy farm of Mr. Sanjeev Kunkalienkar of Cuncolim village. Farmer is practising Hydroponic fodder technology. He explained hydroponic fodder technology in detail and shared his own experience. All the participants practically observed all the details of hydroponic fodder. Dr.Sanjaykumar Vithalrao Udharwar SMS (Animal Science ) showed practical of Disbudding in calf by using dehorner. Scientific Dairy Farming- seventh day (25/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. Sanjaykumar Vithalrao Udharwar ,SMS (Animal Science ) gave lecture on primary aid in the dairy cattle . In the afternoon session Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar conducted practical and explained various medicines required in dairy farm and how to give medications, routes, indications and contraindications of drugs. Scientific Dairy Farming- Eighth day (26/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. Desai.A.R. Scientist (Horticulture) gave lectures on Use of cow dung, urine to improve soil fertility. Mr. Shashi Vishwakarma Technical Officer (Soil Science) gave lecture and practically demonstrated vermicomposting. In the afternoon session Dr. R.B. Dhuri gave lecture on metabolic diseases and project report of dairy animals. Scientific Dairy Farming- Ninth day ( 27/02/ 2018) Exposure visit is organised at Shri Ram Gosavardhan Goshala, Nanus village. Goshala is maintaining various indigenous breeds of cattle and are preparing cow urine and dung products like Amruthpani, Jivamruth, dung patties, soap, dhup, etc and other products of desi cow milk like Ghee, curd etc. All the participants practically observed all preparation of products. Dr. Sanjaykumar Vithalrao Udharwar SMS (Animal Science) showed practical demonstration of Silage making by bag method , Hybrid Napier fodder CO-5 cultivation practices , casting of cattle , various restraining methods etc. Scientific Dairy Farming- Tenth day (28/02/18) In the Morning Session Dr. Prasad Naik, Deputy Director, Stockman centre Curti, Ponda gave lectures on various schemes of Department of Animal husbandry and Veterinary services , Goa State. Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar , SMS (Animal science) gave lecture and practically demonstrated milk by-product preparation like paneer, lassi, khoa, flavoured milk etc. In the afternoon session valedictory programme was organised at Conference hall of ICAR CCARI, Old Goa. The compendium is released in the hands of Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. Tapas Bhattacharya, Dr. Balasaheb Sawanth Konkan Krishi Vidyapith, Dapoli and Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR –CCARI Old Goa. Mr.Vishwajeet Prajapati , Technical officer (Computer ) designed compendium on Scientific dairy farming. Finally training Certificates were given to all the fifteen participants by Chief Guest and Hon. Director ICAR CCARI .
