New India Manthan - Sankalp Se Siddhi Programme

ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organized the New India Manthan –Sankalp Se Siddhi programme on 30/08/2017. The programme was inaugurated by Hon. Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. As a Chief Guest threw light on following seven points to double the income by 2022, 1. Focus on Irrigation along with adequate resource building 2. Increase Production through Improved Seeds, Planting Materials, Organic Farming and Soil Health Card. 3. Strengthening warehousing and cold chain facilities to curb post-harvest losses. 4. Value addition through food processing. 5. Overcoming deficiencies in agriculture marketing through e-NAM. 6. Work on institutional loan to reduce risk and growth of agriculture sector. 7. Allied activities of agriculture like Dairy development, Poultry, Beekeeping, Fisheries, Agro-forestry and Integrated Farming System. He also stressed on role of farmers and all line departments to achieve this goal and dream of Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modiji, Prime Minister of India. Dr. E.B Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, as an expert also explained role of KVK and CCARI to achieve the target of doubling the farmers income by 2022. He appreciated the work done by KVK in different villages and responding to their needs. Smt. Upma Srivastava, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India spoke on the road map to achieve above goal through the seven point formula and all line departments. During the programme “New India Pledge” was taken by all the participants and a video on message from Prime Minister of India was played. Also two publications viz: “Honey bee” & “Virgin Coconut Oil” were released. Mr. H.R.C. Prabhu, Programme coordinator Incharge, ICAR- KVK, North Goa gave welcome address and Mrs. Sunetra Talaulikar, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), ICAR – KVK, North Goa proposed vote of thanks. The programme was attended by all line departments - Deparment of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, Agriculture Technology Management Agency – North Goa, etc. The programme was well covered by Doordarshan, Press Information Bureau and All India Radio. The programme was attended by more than 150 famers from Neura, Pilar, Surla, Veling, Priol, Ibrampur, Farmagudi, Cuncolim, Bicholim and Navelim. An exhibition depicting the technologies of the institute along with publications were displayed for the benefit of the farmers.
