Utilization
Has a minor fishery value at the subsistence level. It is a preferred food fish among local communities residing along the river basins of Kerala where this species is known to occur (Kurup et al. 2004, Easa and Basha 2005). Juveniles of this species is collected and exported to the international aquarium pet trade under the name Black Border Tail Orange (MPEDA 2004, Raghavan 2010).
