Description :

It inhabits shallow slow-moving waters with sandy bottom. It is characterised by 3 pairs of barbels; no lateral line; dorsal fin with 8 rays; dorsal fin inserted in posterior half of body; pelvic fins with 5 rays; head length about 6.2 times in standard length; lower lip with a pair of leaf-like lobes.
